The influence of Bishop Marlowe’s letter spread throughout the clergy and lay alike. Within months, SCRIBES were vandalized, dismantled, and what many described as murder, though many disagree on this description due to the open question over whether or not SCRIBES were alive to begin with. Therefore, Pope Cyprian I called the First Interplanetary Ecumenical Council (IEC) in 3298 to resolve the controversy and extraterrestrial goals of the Church. Cyprian declared Marlowe’s ideology heretical, and SCRIBES were a valid part of the Church liturgy on the basis that all SCRIBE knowledge originates with the priests, clergy, or other ordained member of the Church using them.
